Charging Credit Cards for Firearms

Before you can accept credit card payments for firearms, you must have first set up your credit card processing account in FFLSafe.

In this tutorial, we’re going to walk you through how to accept a credit card payment after a firearm transfer/disposition.

Table of Contents

Dispose Firearm

First, dispose or transfer the firearm(s).

For help on how to dispose in FFLSafe, please see Disposing Firearms

After the disposition is complete, you will see a popup on your screen confirming the transaction.

From here, you will have the option of returning to the Dashboard or Accepting Payment.

Click on [Accept Payment]

You will be taken to the checkout page to add other firearms, products, or fees.

Add Other Products, Fees, and Tax

On the “Collect payment” screen, you will see a list of the firearms you just disposed.

If you added the sales price to the firearm(s) when you acquired them, the price will automatically be entered for you.

However, you can edit the price to whatever you’d like it to be at this step.

To add more items or fees (e.g. ammo, transfer fees, etc), click on the [Add] button to add as many items as you’d like. You can remove items by clicking on the red trash can icon to the right of each item.

You will also be able to enter a sales tax rate.

Select Manual Entry or Use Card Reader

Next, select whether you will be entering the credit card number manually or whether you will be using a card reader.

Enter Billing Details (Manual Entries)

If you selected “Manual entry” for the credit acrd, you will need to enter the customer’s billing address.

The billing details for the customer will be pre-populated based on the customer’s details in FFLSafe.

If needed, you can edit this address.

Be careful here – a different address than what they used on a 4473 can be a red flag.

Charge Credit Card

For manual entires: Click on [Enter Card Details] and you will see a popup to enter the credit card information.

For card readers: Click on [Charge Credit Card] and swipe the card.

Once complete, you can print a receipt from the confirmation screen.
